Brighton Gloucester
Rock n' roll, eh? A couple of years back no–one wanted to know about kids with guitars. Now thanks to The Strokes and The Hives et al, greasy–haired boys with effects pedals and bad attitudes mumble out from the pages of the style mags. The Gloucester has always been a cornerstone of this alternative scene. Its unpretentious atmosphere and general friendliness mean that it's the best place in the city to listen to your favourite plank spankers with a vibe of general mayhem. It's also branching out from its musical roots resulting in the dance nights and ever–popular weekend school disco shenanigans being well worth a punt.
