Koba
Members' bars by definition tend to be a bit snooty, and like Woody Allen, I personally wouldn't want to be a member of any club that'd have me. But I'll make an exception for Koba –it really is a haven from the latest house 'choons in town and obscenely busy pre–club bars. Sophisticated yet tranquil –and ok, it should be if you've got to pay before you even set foot inside the place –but the extra effort does show. Inside it's a refreshingly friendly and normal crowd, chilling over their fresh fruit cocktails amongst slate and velvet–lined walls 'til late. Yes, we know that's not what normal folk do but still, as bars go, it's one of the best in town. Work's in progress on two further bars attached to the venue, as well as a roof terrace and private access garden, so it's only going to get better too.
