It may look uninspiring from the outside, but we reckon that you'll be pretty impressed once you get in there, but enter at your own risk because we'll tell you now, you won't get a seat for the sea of Brighton's best. We love it for its wit, humour, looks and charm, oh and for one of the best menu's in town. The Hop Poles seems to have pioneered the hub–cap sculpture craze currently sweeping Brighton with crocks adorning the ceiling. Even if it's the middle of winter there's an outdoor heated terrace, but it's always packed so you won't get a seat there either.

I can't believe what a shit pub the Hop Pole has turned into. Genuinly crap in customer service. We met friends there. The music was shite, food was overpiled in a disgusting manner, it was freezing and the loos were below any decent standard. I think it's stinking and I will not return. It's genuinly shit. Even in Tirana, I was able to retrieve a forgotten bag after an hour without it being stolen... maybe the left bag is my benchmark or indeed my foolishness.

Chill out. Hop Poles is a quality pub and their food isn't overpiled...embrace the generosity. And you can't knock their bread either!

Lovely sunny day in Brighton: enter the Hop Poles at 11.50am, approach the bar, only to hear one of the bar staff "we're not actually open 'til 12". Straight to Hospitality school young lady- get some manners. We left.

this is one of th best pubs in town! Dont believe the review at the top. Should learn to look after your things instead of leaving them in the pub! Great food, great atmosphere, great, great, great!!!
