04 Sep 2009In a SALE, the owner of this company sold me a sputnik lamp with 22 bulbs, telling me that all except 3 or 4 bulbs were working. I paid my electrician to fit the lamp, but discovered 19 out of 22 bulbs were defective and that I have to replace these (£3 each.) This amounts to 3 x the original cost of the lamp. I contacted the owner asking him since he had misrepresented the situation - to reimburse the cost of replacing the 19 bulbs. He refused to make any contribution towards this sum, but merely offered to take back the lamp and reimburse me the £20 cost of purchase. This was obviously not in good faith since I would have to pay an electrician £25 pounds to take down the lamp and replace it with my earlier one - as well as make a round trip to Brighton from Tunbridge Wells thus costing me more than the £20 I would get back. I advise potential customers of England at Home to make absolutely sure that ANY undertaking they get from this shop is IN WRITING and SIGNED and DATED
