Star & Garter

The Star & Garter is opposite Sheffield University Library and right on the boundary separating students and a local estate. It could be a potentially combustible mix, but luckily the town-gown relations in Sheffield are quite good so students can happily discuss Chaucer alongside tattooed locals. The Star & Garter has recently changed ownership and undergone a Harvesters style makeover. It's brighter now, but devoid of character. That said, who needs character when the pub boasts a successful weekly poker league as well as a pool table and juke-box?
