Knott Bar

Situated on the Castlefield side of Deansgate, Knott Bar distances itself from the flashy, neon-signed mentality of its neighbours. Creaky and uneven floorboards, a decent jukebox (actually allowing a conversation to occur), and a customer age-range that stems from fresher to pensioner. Strange, but it successfully delivers a soothing atmosphere. While at the bar perusing the local and European ales, there's a subtle reminder of England's recent bout of earthquakes – that'll be the 22:47 to Bolton passing over the adjacent railway bridge.
