The Barleycorn

The Barleycorn suffers from two main problems: a swirling interior design that could induce epilepsy and the smarter watering-hole, The Woodstock, across the road. But headache-inducing carpets and scruffiness aside, it's one of the cheapest pints around and still one of the only reputable pubs in south Manchester with a pool table. Oh, but watch out for the gratuitous T&A on the walls – definitely not decorated by a feminist. Also, if you're going, go now – rumour says it's due to be demolished in favour of yet more flats.
