Royal Exchange Theatre
This theatre in-the-round warrants a visit just to see the interior. Yes, we know we sound like your history teacher, and we'll shut up in a sec, but this was the largest trading room in England between 1914 and 1921. The metal/glass structure-within-a-structure is framed in opulent decadence. It's been significantly damaged twice: a direct hit in WWII and again by the 1996 IRA bomb (word has it the IRA was gunning for the government intelligence offices in the same block). There you go, class over. Oh, and it puts on shows, which are usually good.
