Manchester Craft & Design Centre
Peaceful and airy building, comprising of two levels of craft shops and workshops. The 16 studio spaces are home to contemporary arts and crafts from some of the leading artists in the Northwest. The building was once the Victorian Fish Market and is always flooded with light from the huge glass roof, setting off both the displayed work and the space itself beautifully. There is also an open–plan café in the middle of the ground floor, which I am reliably informed is excellent and also does takeaways. This café and the stairwells also hold a variety of work from other artists and organisations, which change throughout the year. Well worth hunting down if you're near the Northern Quarter.
