Here's how it works: you pay once, and then the nice men bring you freshly cooked meat, which they carve from skewers directly onto your plate. A few minutes later, they come back with more meat, and then again. Meat from cows, meat from pigs, meat from chickens, meat from sheep. The thing is, it all tastes so good you find yourself unable to say no to anything. So you nod your head and resign yourself to the fact that you probably won't be getting up unaided at the end of the evening. This super-barbecue is the churrascaria, invented by the gauchos of southern Brazil, who spend their days herding animals and their nights eating them. A succulent selection of meats, from rump steak to chicken hearts, are slow-roasted to perfection and served with authentic Brazilian cocktails. Decent deserts round off the glutton's perfect night out, though if your date's a Buddhist, you'll be going home on your own.
