Unless you're Cliff Richard, your idea of a good Friday night out's unlikely to involve going to a church. But for the Brixton poseur elite, churches are simply the most ravishing place to be seen, darling. Babalou, a newly opened restaurant/bar/club located in the crypt under St Matthew's church whose reasonably-priced elegant Modern International cuisine and stylish signature cocktails are currently providing South London's air-kissers with the second best reason to spend a night in a crypt other than being dead. Just don't expect to be able to hear a word of your dinner companions' conversation over the club soundsystem.
