Casa Verde

This is one of those fabulously old–school Italians where you feel Mamma is going to bustle out of the kitchen any second and berate you for being 'so skeeeny'. She won't unfortunately, but there'll be little chance of you leaving this place looking like a wastrel. Food here is damned fine. Check out also the breadsticks on the tables, turquoise tablecloths and dodgy marble effect walls. Sunday lunch is a proper family affair with Italian starters and classy roasts. Weekends offer live piano to go with your main; grills and fish are worth a try. Booking is advisable as this place is deservedly popular.
