Glastonbury
Holy Grail, Isle of Avalon, King Arthur, Hippies, music festivals, naked dancing in the street. All of this can be found in Glastonbury, though the music festival held annually is actually held at Worthy Farm a few miles outside the village. For 30 years local residents have been raging about the noise of the music and 'wild-eyed druggies' wandering the village hassling the yokels with droogs, but it's not like that, honest. The festival is held at the end of June and is massive. Don't take our word for it, we've only been going for the last, how many years, oh we can't remember it must be the droogs. Festival aside, the village of Glastonbury does have a lot of hippies lingering on, but now they're considered New Age and trendy with their crystals, Buddha statues, and whale music tapes. Lots of little cafés, gift and bookshops to discover before hiking up Glastonbury Tor for magic views of the surrounding countryside. Legend has it that the Holy Grail is buried somewhere around here, and that there is a thorn tree growing in the grounds of the Abbey which has been there since Joseph of Aramathea stomped his staff into the ground on a visit to the place ages ago. So you can see there's loads to do, myths and legends abound in this medieval village.
