Finally Carl Barat has gone solo, and his debut album is released on 4th October. After two albums with The Libertines and the Dirty Pretty Things, Carl wanted to be a lone wolf. This talented wolf has also written a book AND will be going on a UK and European tour.
The album allowed him to work with new people and try new musical ideas. The result is a very honest and heartfelt record, with upbeat tales of friendship and laments for lost love
Carl's book 'Threepenny Memoir' is a collection of stories and reminisces from his life. He writes of his love of London, his heroes, and his adventures in theatreland and of course, the highs and lows of being in a band like The Libertines who really did turn everything upside down.
For those worried that Libertines haven't turned everything upside down recently, they are going to be playing Reading and Leeds in August!
