Slim Jim's Liquor Store

Slip away from the bright lights of North London to Slim Jim's, a stylish, liquored-up LA-style dive-bar, with an intimate feel, rugged bare brick walls, neon lighting and candles.

With its 1950s-style stools and jukebox, you might expect it to be a bit more Frank Sinatra than Bon Scott, but they've gone for a rock 'n' roll vibe. The jukey's stocked with hits, from the Stones to Kings of Leon, and they also host local live bands Thursdays and Sundays, and monthly burlesque nights.

Obviously, booze is their business, with plenty of rare stuff like whiskey from the Deep South distillery Heaven Hill and Japanese Suntory Hibiki. And if neat whiskey makes you shudder, the bar also offers a mixture of classic and original cocktails like the Slim Jim, (a variation of a rusty nail) or Slim Jane, a sweeter option.

Slim Jim's Liquor Store is at 112 Upper Street, Islington. Though it's already serving up liquor to the general public, it'll be introducing itself to the neighbours with a grand opening bash on 26th November.
